How do I book?

Our festival programme outlines how to join in an activity. Each activity is tagged with the following:

Register At Hub	Register on the day for these activities. You can do this at in at any point in the day, in the community hub located in the community centre.
Drop In	Just turn up in within the time range – no need to register.
Go To Venue	Go straight to the venue, turn up 15 minutes in advance!

How do we get to Skelmorlie?

Is there parking in Skelmorlie?

We urge people to take public transport, but there is limited parking in Skelmorlie for those who must take their cars.

Wemyss Bay Train Station has a large car park which is usually already quite busy
Skelmorlie Community Centre has its own carpark which we expect to fill up very quickly.
Next stop would be Eglinton Gardens & Eglinton Terrace which is a long wide road that has lots of space between driveways.
Events at Skelmorlie Fishery and Skelmorlie Golf Club can use the parking facilities there.
Skelmorlie Bowling Club & Skelmorlie Tennis club have small amounts of street parking and are also very close to Eglinton Terrace.
Drop-In activities at Meigle Beach can use the large laybay at the beach, we ask people to park nose or tail to the wall to ensure we can maximise that space.

Will there be any food on offer?

There is no food provided at this festival but please feel free to bring your own packed lunch or picnic to enjoy at the park. We have also outlined a list of all the local Skelmorlie eateries. Water bottles can also be filled at all venues.

Are there toilets we can use?

There are toilets at the community centre where the festival hub and event registration take place. Each venue also has their own facilities which can be used by event attendees with the exception of Meigle Beach so take that into consideration if you are attending a cold dip!

Is this event for Skelmorlie people only?

We welcome you all to the festival! We are actively promoting the event in Skelmorlie and Wemyss Bay, as well as sharing in Largs and Inverkip. We simply ask that people from further afield get to know what to expect in our wee village first by joining our newsletter and reading information as it appears on our website. We want to heavily encourage the use of public transport to get here as our infrastructure cannot manage a lot of cars and we want to keep the residents of Skelmorlie happy! If you leave your car at home this helps us manage the festival, and make it a success. We are happy to share our ancient woodland, and wildlife with a wider audience!

Is it muddy?

Although the weather forecast for the weekend is sunny, it has been non-stop rain for months! The woodlands are therefore a bit muddy and possibly the grass will be too after lots of people stand on it. Please dress for the weather and bring wellies for the woodland activities!

Is Skelmorlie Nature Festival accessible?

All of the events that take place at Skelmorlie Community Centre are fully accessible. Some of the other events would be less suitable for all. We aim to support anyone who would like to be involved so if you need any support or advice about any of the activities, please get in touch so that we know how we can help you further! On the day there will be several volunteers who can also offer support.

Is xxx activity free?

Yes! All the activities are really, honestly free! We were very fortunate to secure funding from the National Lottery, The Outdoor Partnership and another source (which will be revealed once secured) to bring this event to all participants for free. We hope that this allows people to try things they might ordinarily not have experienced before.

We will have a donation box at the registration desk, and some opportunities for volunteering so if you would like to give something back, you can!

How do I get to the Secret Garden?

We are running a shuttle bus to and from the Secret Garden, just come and register at the hub and we’ll get you to the bus!
