Field Studies Council
The Field Studies Council is a charity that provides school trips, college and university fieldwork, art and nature courses, and more. Celebrating 80 years of environmental education, it offers courses and events at its centres across the UK.
Amy is an experienced outdoor educator, based at the Field Studies Council Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae. She has a background in marine biology and is passionate about sharing her knowledge of the wildlife we can find right on our doorsteps here in the UK.
Bat Walk
Come along to learn about the UK’s only flying mammal – the bat! As dusk falls we will use torches and bat detectors to search for bats, and find out what species may be living locally, and learn about how their amazing nocturnal adaptations. After the bat walk why not join us for some star gazing at the golf course from 9 pm to 10 pm? Discover the cosmic night sky away from the brightness of everyday life, identify some constellations that travellers have used to aid navigation for over a millennia and explore our place within the solar system.
